Readalong- How i'm getting on with reading La Perle by John Steinbeck

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, A couple years ago, I tried tackling a book by the name of La Perle by John Steinbeck. Since I'm French, I like to read a French book every once in a while so that I can keep up on my French reading as well as my English reading. It was going really well until I guess I kind of lost interest and I got lost into what the story was actually about. Well, a couple years later, I'm giving it another go and I think I'm doing a lot better. The great thing about this version of the book is that one page is French and the other is English so if I get stuck on a word or phrase, I can just look on the other page. I think I'm doing better in reading this book also since I'm already on page 45 and I understand the story clearly. About Kino, his wife, and his baby and about how Coyotito got bitten by a scorpion and about how the doctor was weary about helping the family since they were indigenous and of racial inferiority.

Book review- Tom Sawyer

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, I've been meaning to do this review for a while now but for some weird reason I've been putting it off. So here it is, the long awaited review of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.  I read the French manga version of Tom Sawyer but the basic story is still there. I really enjoyed reading it, I thought it was light-hearted and funny. My favourite part of the book was when Tom and his friends escaped to an island and pretended to be pirates. Tom escaped because he thought that his aunt would want him out of her sight and he also just had enough of school. At first, they thought it was fun but then they started to miss their families and they ended up going back. Haha. I also really enjoyed all the really intense parts when they get stuck in the cave with Joe L'indien when he is looking for treasure! Have you read Tom Sawyer before? Let me know in the comments below and i'll be sure to reply to them. I ♡ hearing f

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, As some of you may know, I've been reading Professor Noel Fitzpatrick's book called becoming The Supervet. I received this book as a Christmas present from my parents, and since I've been pining for it for ages, I was so happy when I finally got it. A couple weeks after Christmas, I decided to start reading it and since then, I've been really enjoying it. I'm currently on page 31 and chapter 3- The Robin and the Chestnut Tree. Up to this point, I have found out so many interesting facts about him that I didn't know before. I found out that his family were strictly religious, I'm guessing Catholic which makes sense since so many people in Northern Ireland then and now were and are Catholic. I also found out that his father was an excellent businessman, especially in the field of buying and selling land for his livestock that him and his Noel spent precious hours looking after. Due to this, Noel bought a

All about James Herriot

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, As most of you know, I'm currently reading All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot and I thought that it would be fitting to give you some facts about who he is. Hope you enjoy! James Alfred Wight OBE, was born on the 3rd of October 1916 and died on the 23rd of February 1995. Well known by his pen name James Herriot, he was a writer and veterinary surgeon, who had years of experience in the veterinary industry. He wrote a series, which I'm currently reading, consisting of stories about animals and their owners. A spawn of series of movies and television series, which originated from his auto-biographical works, beginning with If Only They Could Talk, which started in 1970. Herriot was born in Sunderland, County Durham, England, to James and Hannah Bell Wight. The Wights moved from Brandling Street, Sunderland to Glasgow, Scotland from which James took up work as a ship plater and pianist for a local cinema and

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, Hi again! I feel like I haven't posted on this blog in literally the longest time. But I'm back. I have big plans to post more here in the new year so stay tuned for that. Anyway, as some of you may remember, I'm currently reading James Herriot's book All Creatures Great and small. A few years ago, I had knack at reading this book but found that the language was too difficult for me to understand so I left it and here I am now. It's actually a really funny collection of his memories. I'm currently on chapter 28 and with 45 chapters to go, I can already tell that it's going to be a good book. The funniest parts of the story are when James has to tend to animal owned by an old or stuck up farmer because they just immediately think that he lacks experience and he can't do the job. In one of the recent chapters I read, James had to tend to a cow who was breathing heavily and acting abnormally. The
